LA County Public Defenders: Training on Homicide 101 at The Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angels

Los Angeles County Public Defenders had a training today at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Downtown, Los Angeles. Most of the Los Angeles County Buildings are within a three block radius of the Cathedral. The training was called "Homicide 101".

Per Mr. Sztraicher, the Cathedral is treated like other businesses that rent conference space. It was a full house. Even though it was Saturday morning, they still looked like attorneys and probation officers. The training looks like it reflects the diversity of the Public Defenders Officer.

There could be more minorities. Some define minority as:
  • women
  • non-white men
This reference is to Black non-hispanic. One way of systematic discrimination is to use other individual races to replace the orginal reason for Affirmative Action Laws. Hopefully people will have the courage to continue to remember why these laws exist and what happened to individuals who fought for these laws.

The Public Defenders Office, many times does not have a great relationship with the public because of sayings like, "you get what you pay for".  Training is a means of improving their ability to "Defend the Public".
