The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Identity Theft Task Force, Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers, and Shred-it are teaming up to help Los Angeles County residents combat identity theft by hosting a free Community Shred-it event at three locations in Los Angeles County:
Saturday, June 11, 2011, from 9am to 2pm
1. Calabasas (City Hall - 100 Civic Center Way, Calabasas, CA 91302)
2. Los Angeles (Ladera Center – 5315 W. Centinela Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90045)
3. Carson (The Home Depot Center – 18400 Avalon Bl., Carson, CA 90746)

Everyone is invited to bring all unwanted personal documents for shredding by Shred-it mobile trucks. Shred-it is providing the service free of charge on the event day; however, donations will be collected for:
* March of Dimes
* The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation
* 999 For Kids
* Sheriff’s Youth Foundation
* Carson Sheriff’s Station Support Foundation
* Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers

Identity theft is the fastest growing form of consumer fraud in North America. The Community Shred-it is a community outreach event designed to heighten public awareness about identity theft, while providing residents with an opportunity to destroy documents containing personal identifying information rather than disposing of them in non-secure places such as garbage bins. The Community Shred-it event is the perfect place to shred documents safely and securely while helping some amazing charities.
