Man Shot and Killed at a Party With One Injured

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Hollywood Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of a suspect who shot and killed a man at a party in Los Angeles.

This morning, around 3:10 a.m., LAPD Hollywood patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a residence in the 1600 block of North La Brea Avenue. Once at the scene, they saw an unresponsive man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. LAFD rescue personnel responded and pronounced the man dead. A second victim was also treated for non-life threatening injuries from the shooting.

The Hollywood detective’s investigation revealed that 22-year-old South Central resident; Lorenzo Smith was attending a party when an unknown man began arguing with him. During the dispute, the man used a handgun to shoot Smith and then ran from the scene. Detectives say that this shooting appeared to be gang related. The investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to search for additional information.
