Politics News Alert: Obama says U.S. and its allies have 'stopped Gaddafi's deadly advance'

After days of criticism that his administration's goals in Libya are unclear, President Obama on Monday said the U.S. intervened there "to stop a massacre" and had succeeded in doing so. "We have stopped Gaddafi's deadly advance," he said.
Obama described a limited and decreasing role for the U.S., saying that a NATO-led coalition will on Wednesday take over responsibility for protecting Libyan civilians and that broadening the mission there "to include regime change would be a mistake."
