Teacher arrested for alleged multiple counts of child molestation
Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in locating possible additional victims of a former teacher who worked at Steven C. Foster Elementary School in Compton.
Sheriff's Special Victims Bureau detectives have conducted an investigation of allegations of sexual molestation between a teacher and students at Steven C. Foster Elementary School, in Compton. Suspect Ronald S. Hoppe, is a 45-year old White male resident of Diamond Bar, is a former teacher with the Compton Unified School District and is on unpaid leave as of his arrest in 2009.
The case originated in 2009, two years after the incident in 2007, because the victim said she was afraid and thought that she would not be believed.
A second victim was later identified from an incident in 2008. She alleged that Suspect Hoppe had sexually molested her. Suspect Hoppe was arrested in 2009. In 2010, the court trial for the suspect ended in a hung jury.
In January 2011, a third victim was identified and alleged that Suspect Hoppe had sexually assaulted her in 2008. The new case was presented to the Compton Office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney for filing consideration.
On March 3, 2011, sheriff's detectives arrested Suspect Hoppe on a warrant without incident. The suspect was booked at Walnut Sheriff's Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, where he is being held on $300,000.00 bail.
The three victims were females between the ages of 7 and 9.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has re-filed two felony counts for the two former victims and one felony count for the new victim, alleging felony Lewd Acts Upon a Child against the suspect.
Anyone who has information regarding possible additional victims should contact the Special Victims Bureau at: 877-710-LASD.
