Venezuela President Hugo Chavez, Dead from Cancer: TMSC Security SVCS World Alert®
Per the New York Times, Vice President of Venezuela, Nicholas Maduro has replaced Hugo Chavez due to his death from cancer. The funeral was held March 6, 2012.
It is also stated that Mr. Maduro is the chosen successor to Mr. Chavez.

Changes Impacting Vehicle Registration Renewal Fees Due July 1, 2011 & Later:
"...Law enforcement is aware and will not cite vehicles until the first day of the second month after the vehicle registration expires. For example: A vehicle with a registration expiration date of July 10th would not be cited for delinquent registration prior to September 1, 2011."

News Release - California Department of Motor Vehicles
DMV has resumed normal processing timeframes for July 1, 2011, and later registration renewals. Vehicle registrations due in July, August and September, can be renewed now using DMV's online renewal program without waiting for a billing notice from DMV.
Billing notices are being mailed out as quickly as possible. NOTE: The late payment penalty amounts described on the notices do not apply. Vehicle owners are being provided a 30-day grace period for the remainder of the year. A special insert (see http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/newsrel/newsrel11/julyrenewals.htm#ISD94image ) in the billing notice provides more information about the grace period.
Fee changes include:
Vehicle License Fee rate decreased from 1.15% to 0.65%, and,
A $12 increase in the registration fee (from $34 to $46).
Customers are encouraged to utilize the renewal by mail or online Internet renewal program to renew their registration. These alternative service delivery options will automatically waive late fees for first 30 days after expiration date. New registration cards and stickers will be issued as quickly as possible.

El DMV ha reanudado los plazos normales de trámites para las renovaciones de matrícula de vehículos que se vencen a partir del 1º de julio de 2011. Las matrículas de vehículos que se vencen en julio, agosto y septiembre pueden ser renovadas ahora usando el programa de renovación en el sitio de Internet del DMV sin tener que esperar por un aviso de cobro del DMV.
Los avisos de cobro están siendo enviados por correo lo más pronto posible. NOTA: Las multas por pagos atrasados publicadas en los avisos no corresponden. Sheriff's Department's rescued horse delivers filly early;...born with a "star" on her forehead.
In February 2011, Sergeant John Hargraves from the Parks Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, adopted two horses, Miss Ladybug and Dude from an animal shelter.
Both horses had been abandoned by their owners and were found starving. It became John’s goal to get the horses back to a healthy condition so they could be trained to work Mounted Enforcement Detail.
John began a feeding and training program for both horses. They both began gaining weight. As time went by, John noticed that Miss Ladybug’s belly was larger than normal.
Suspecting that she may be pregnant, John had the veterinarian check on Ladybug. It was confirmed she was pregnant with a due date of October 2011.
Well, the veterinarian was off by a few months. On July 7, 2011, John was walking out to his corral at 4:50 in the morning, when he heard Ladybug whining. He shined his light towards her corral and saw an extra pair of eyes looking back. It was a little filly, red like her mom, with a large white star on her forehead.
The veterinarian said she was born early because Ladybug had been starved by her previous owners; which often results in premature births. Both mom and baby are doing fine.
John has not come up with a name yet but is considering either “Star” or “Diamond.” In a few years, she may be John’s primary horse for mounted enforcement work.

Vaccination Without Parent Knowledge Bill's Opposition Growing from Catholics for the Common Good

the bill which permits 12 year old children to give consent, without their parents' knowledge, for vaccines or other medication to prevent sexually transmitted diseases, was surprisingly pulled from the Senate floor July 7 and referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. A new hearing has been scheduled for August 15.
This move is no doubt in response to letters and phone calls of opposition flooding state senators' offices as the awareness of this sinister bill is increasing all over the state. Because the bill was crafted to avoid key words used in such medical legislation, organizations like the National Vaccine Information Center, a watch-dog group that is concerned with educating the public on problematic vaccines, was completely unaware of the bill, as were a number of other interested groups. Thanks to CCG's outreach efforts, these organizations are now becoming actively engage.
Bill's Author Responds to CCG on Pharmaceutical Blog
The fact that the California Catholic Conference and CCG have been leading the way on this bill has come to the attention of the pharmaceutical trade press. An article in the award winning pharmaceutical trade blog Pharmalot quoted CCG and gave credence to arguments of an end run that drug companies and providers are trying to make through this bill. They will profit from by-passing parents and coercing children into receiving the vaccines for certain STDs. The article is linked to others reporting how similar efforts have backfired in the past.
The bill's author, Toni Atkins of San Diego, apparently felt she needed to respond but did so in a most disingenuous way. She indicated that she was approached to author the bill by the American College of Gynecology (ACOG), not the drug company Merck, the manufacturer of controversial vaccine Gardasil. Some of the readers of the blog called her on this fact by pointing out that Merck had given almost $500,000 in funding to ACOG last year and another $100,000 in the first quarter of 2011. In an effort to dismiss the critical issue of parents' rights and a child's right to the counsel of her parents on grave matters concerning health, Atkins then responded a second time by saying that Catholic opposition to the bill was really just an extension of our opposition to abortion and "reproductive health of women".

Professionals, Teachers, Historians Should Determine Curriculum
Politicians are not the right people to determine school curricula – whether in science or social studies. Educational professional, working with teachers and parents and school boards, are better able to instruct our children.
SB 48 (Leno) Instruction: prohibition of discriminatory content would be yet another political idea imposed on the public school curriculum—a mandate "prohibitingdiscriminatory content" in history lessons. Laws promoting acceptance and tolerance of those with diverse heritage, racial identity, sexual orientation, religious conviction or physical ability are already in statute. A law which micromanages the study of history for political correctness is both unwise and dangerous.
As the Los Angeles Times editors wrote on April 12, 2011, letting politicians write our history could lead students to a skewed perception of historical reality: "Minority groups, the elderly and the disabled must be represented proportionally and never portrayed in a bad light. People in poor countries aren’t supposed to be show as poor, lest they be stereotyped… So poor people aren’t poor and the elderly are physicallyfit and financially sound, according to the textbooks…Fables don’t make for solid instruction. History is the great story of people, groups and movements—their faults aswell as their accomplishments—shaping the world up through the events of today. It is a story best told by historians, not by politicians."

Masked woman arrested for breaking into home & attempted murder of mom & toddler in Lancaster

Masked woman arrested for breaking into home & attempted murder of mom & toddler in Lancaster
A female (suspect) arrived at the Lancaster home of a 40-year old Hispanic woman on Friday morning, July 1. The suspect was wearing white construction coveralls and a face mask.
Suspect Dierdre Allen, a 49-year old African-American woman who resides in Los Angeles, knocked on the door of the home on the 43000 block of Gadsden Ave.
At about 10:30 AM, when the door was answered by a relative of the intended victim, the suspect forced her way inside and brandished a replica handgun. A struggle ensued between the suspect and several of the victim’s family members. The suspect was wrestled to the ground and held until Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies arrived minutes later.
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station deputies searched the suspect and found a digital recording device. The recording included messages by the suspect wherein she provides step by step instructions to herself. They include what to do to kill the victim and her toddler child, and making it appear to be a murder suicide.
The intended murder weapon appears to be poisoning by an unknown chemical. A jar containing a chemical substance was also located at the scene.
Deputies arrested the suspect and booked her at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station for attempted murder. They discovered a warrant for her arrest as a parolee at large from San Diego. She is being held without bail. No one else has been implicated in the alleged attempted murder.
The victim was home at the time the suspect forced entry inside, but was not involved in the altercation. The husband lives with the victim at the residence where the incident occurred. The suspect and the victim’s husband know each other.

Pakistan’s top military spy agency has arrested some of the Pakistani informants who fed information to the Central Intelligence Agency in the months leading up to the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden, according to American officials.
Pakistan’s detention of five C.I.A. informants, including a Pakistani Army major who officials said copied the license plates of cars visiting Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in the weeks before the raid, is the latest evidence of the fractured relationship between the United States and Pakistan. It comes at a time when the Obama administration is seeking Pakistan’s support in brokering an endgame in the war in neighboring Afghanistan.
The fate of the C.I.A. informants arrested in Pakistan is unclear, but American officials said that the C.I.A. director, Leon E. Panetta, raised the issue when he travelled to Islamabad last week to meet with Pakistani military and intelligence officers.

On Thursday, June 16, 2011, the U.S. Bishops approved and released their statement on physician-assisted suicide, To Live Each Day with Dignity. In the opening they said:
“To live in a manner worthy of our human dignity, and to end our days on this earth in peace and comfort, surrounded by loved ones—that is the hope of each of us. Christian hope also sees these final days as a time to prepare for our eternal destiny. Today, however, many people fear the dying process…Our society can be judged by how we respond to these fears.”

Yesterday, on a party-line vote, the California Senate Judiciary committee passed AB499 without debate. The bill permits 12 year old children to give consent, without their parents' knowledge, for vaccines or other medication to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. In a state of over 37 million people and thousands of associations, only three people were there to stand up against medical witnesses, state agencies, and others advocating for an end-run on parental rights to push a sinister agenda of sexualizing our children. If I had know that would be the case, I would have sent out a call for every able-bodied person within driving distance of Sacramento to show up and pack the hearing room.

The Center for Disease Control has reported deaths of 51 girls and 2 boys after being administered one of the vaccines covered by this bill (Gardasil). Why are there no assurances in the bill that children will be told that receiving these vaccines could cause them to die, although the risk is small. What about the other possible debilitating side effects of these vaccines?
How can a 12 year old evaluate risks and statistics? How do their brains process such information? Has there ever been a study on that?
Children can be easily intimidated or influenced by the authority of adults. There is money to be made by administering these vaccines and other drugs by the drug companies and service providers (like Planned Parenthood). What protects children from coercion driven by the profit motive?
If there are allergic reactions and other side effects to the vaccines, how will parents be able to recognize them and act on them quickly if they don’t know that their child has received the vaccine? It is critical to react quickly to save lives and to prevent long-term consequences for the child.
No one on the committee asked any of these questions, not even the lone Republican who showed up for the hearing. The committee chairman, Senator Noreen Evans, said the bill was necessary because parents are not competent to make sure their children are protected from sexually transmitted diseases, so the state needs to step in. The statement made evident their intent to try to vaccinate every child they possibly can even though there was a public outcry when they tried to make such vaccinations mandatory in 2007.
I do not believe California parents have become so cynical and apathetic that they are ready to give up on their rights and the health and welfare of their children. We have got to do a better job of spreading the word and getting more engaged in opposing this bill as it comes to a vote on the Senate floor. We are a small apostolate with limited resources. We need your support and participation. Here is what needs to be done.
First, take out your checkbooks and write a tax deductable check to Catholics for the Common Good Institute. We are overwhelmed by the volume of legislation geared to undermining children’s understanding of love, relationships, family, and marriage. We need your help.

Write a letter to the editor. Express your feelings about this bill and ask others to join you in opposing it. If you write a letter to the editor, also send it to CCG so we can share it with other letter writers. Send it to info@ccgaction.org.
Call radio talk shows to explain what AB 499 does and why people need to oppose it.
If you know doctors or other medical professionals who will oppose AB499, ask them to write letters to the editor or commentaries.
Make announcements about this bill at meetings and events in which you participate. We need to let everyone know about the pending threat to our children.

Yesterday, on a party-line vote, the California Senate Judiciary committee passed AB499 without debate. The bill permits 12 year old children to give consent, without their parents' knowledge, for vaccines or other medication to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. More Background: CA Legislature: Children Should Decide on Controversial Vaccinations
In a state of over 37 million people and thousands of associations, only three people were there to stand up against medical witnesses, state agencies, and others advocating for an end-run on parental rights to push a sinister agenda of sexualizing our children. If I had know that would be the case, I would have sent out a call for every able-bodied person within driving distance of Sacramento to show up and pack the hearing room.

Drive-by Shooting in Pacoima Leaves 20-year-old Dead
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Foothill Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect(s) who shot and killed a man in Pacoima.
On Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at around 10:25 p.m., officers responded to a radio call regarding a shooting in the 13100 block of Pinney Street, in Pacoima. When the officers arrived, they found four gunshot victims, including 20-year-old Angel Lopez, a resident of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics rushed all four victims to a local hospital where Lopez died. The other victims are in stable condition.
Detectives believe that Lopez was part of a group of four males sitting in front of a residence in the 13100 block of Pinney Street when the suspect(s) drove up in an unknown type vehicle and fired numerous rounds towards the group. The motive for this murder appears to be gang related.
Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Foothill Area Homicide Detectives Farell or Byers at (818) 834-3115. FEMA, Red Cross & Ad Council launch new Ready Business PSA’s to urge small businesses to prepare in advance of an emergency
Up to 40% of businesses affected by a natural or man-made disaster never reopen, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses represent more than 99 percent of all employers. Unfortunately, small to medium-sized businesses are also the most vulnerable in the event of an emergency. An Ad Council survey reported that nearly two-thirds (62%) of respondents said they do not have an emergency plan in place for their business. By taking steps ahead of time, many of these businesses can be better prepared to survive and recover after an emergency.
“Businesses small and large make up the backbone of economies in communities across our country,” said FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate. “Putting a disaster plan in motion now will improve the likelihood that businesses and organizations will not only survive and recover themselves, but also help their neighbors and communities recover more quickly.”

Help the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department keep kids off drugs. Come Play Golf on Monday, June 20, 2011.
Who: Golfers are invited -- Anyone wishing to support efforts and raise funds for drug education and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s STAR (Success Through Awareness & Resistance) program.
What: Golfers are encouraged to play at the 2011 STAR Golf Classic. Player spots and sponsorships are available, with tee sponsorships beginning at $100. Player spots include golf, a tee bag, lunch, on-course prizes, and a sumptuous buffet dinner including tri-tip and chicken, a silent and live auction, raffle, and comedy show.
When: Monday, June 20, 2011
9:00 a.m. – Registration
11:00 a.m. – Tee off Shotgun Start
4:00 p.m. – Banquet and Awards
Where: Hacienda Golf Club
718 East Road
La Habra Heights, California
Why: This tournament is designed to be fun and unique, while raising funds for the STAR program, which educates children on the dangers of drugs, gangs and violence. The STAR program is a unique drug and gang prevention program, which partners with deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, school districts, schools municipalities, teachers, and parents throughout Los Angeles County.
“We are trying to offer a golf experience that will be fun and challenging for all levels of golfers, while getting the message out about the importance of helping the youth in our communities,” said tournament coordinator, Deputy Cesar Romero. “This year, more than ever, we need to raise funds to keep the program running in our schools.”
“Many of our sponsors and players come back year after year because of the excellent tee bags they receive, on-course prizes, the challenging courses, the great food that is offered throughout the day, and the outstanding raffle and silent auction we hold after the tournament,” said Deputy Robert Amstutz, tournament co-coordinator. “In fact, this year we have some on-course surprises planned that are sure to have people talking. I don’t want to give too much away, but we will be doing the longest drive competition with handcuffs,” Amstutz added.

Judge refuses to overturn ruling against Prop. 8

A federal judge today refused to invalidate last year's ruling against Proposition 8, ruling that the gay jurist who overturned the same-sex marriage ban had no obligation to remove himself from the case because of his long-term relationship with another man. Chief Judge James Ware of the U.S. District Court in San Francisco refused to invalidate last August's ruling by Judge Vaughn R. Walker, although Walker's ruling remains on hold pending further consideration to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
