Woman Sexually Assaulted in Parking Structure
The Los Angeles Police Department Operations West Bureau Sexual Assault Detail (OWBSAD) is investigating the sexual assault of a female Hispanic in her 20’s that occurred early Sunday morning.
On May 1, 2011, at around 3 a.m., the victim had been in the entertainment area near the 1400 block of Ivar Avenue when she became separated from her group of friends. A group of five men befriended the victim, and two of them sexually assaulted her.
The woman was found by her friends in the parking structure, who immediately called for help. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and later released.
Investigators found the vehicle believed used in the crime and it was taken into police custody. Detectives will be reviewing all available surveillance video from the area for evidence of the crime and help in identifying the suspects involved.
This appears to be an isolated incident and should not cause the community to be overly alarmed.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact OWBSAD Detective Kathleen Roditis at (213) 473-0447. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at
1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
